Application of molecular sieve activated powder in polyurea coatings

Application of molecular sieve activated powder in polyurea coatings

1. Application of molecular sieve in asparagus polyurea coating

In the preparation of VOC-free asparagus polyurea coating, molecular sieve SL-2033 is added as a desiccant in the formula to adsorb water in the system and prevent isocyanates from reacting with water to form carbon dioxide bubbles. Specific formulations include:

- Components: polyaspartic esters, desiccant (molecular sieve), pigment filler, reactive diluent, additives, etc.

- Mass ratio: polyaspartic ester : desiccant : pigment filler : reactive diluent : additive = (80–100) : (2–3) : (0–80) : (1–30) : (1–10).

- Function: Molecular sieves optimize the curing process of coatings by adsorbing moisture, improving the compactness and weather resistance of coatings.

2. Anticorrosive polyurea coatings for waste incineration industry

In this formulation, molecular sieves are used as a water scavenger in the preparation of component B, ensuring that the moisture content of the coating remains low during mixing and application:

- Part B formulation: terminal amino polyether, polyol, coupling agent, chain extender, catalyst, water scavenger (molecular sieve SL-2034), color paste.

- Molecular sieve specification: 4A type, which is used to adsorb trace moisture in the raw material and prevent isocyanate prepolymers from reacting with water and causing coating defects.

- Application effect: Improve the high temperature resistance and anti-corrosion performance of the coating, and be suitable for the protection of waste incineration equipment.

3. Antibacterial and anticorrosive polyurea coating

In the B component of antimicrobial anticorrosive polyurea coatings, molecular sieves are used as water scavengers, and specific formulations include:

- Proportion of B components: terminal amino polyether, polyol, coupling agent, chain extender, catalyst, water remover (molecular sieve SL-2034), color paste mixed according to mass ratio.

- Molecular sieve function: adsorb water in the system to avoid blistering or delamination of the coating due to moisture interference during the curing process.

- Specification selection: 4A molecular sieve, taking into account the adsorption efficiency and cost.

4. Anti-seepage polyurea coating for storage power station reservoir basin

In this formula, molecular sieves are also added as water removal agents to component B, as follows:

- Component B composition: terminal amino polyether, polyol, coupling agent, chain extender, catalyst, water scavenger (molecular sieve SL-G2035), color paste.

- Function: Adsorb water through molecular sieve, reduce the micropores inside the coating after painting, and improve the impermeability performance.

- Application scenario: It is used for anti-seepage treatment of the reservoir basin of pumped storage power station to ensure that there is no leakage for a long time.

5. One-component scraping polyurea coating

In the preparation of capped polyetheramines, molecular sieves are used as catalysts or adsorbents to assist the reaction to complete:

- Preparation step: When polyetheramine reacts with ketone capping agents, molecular sieves are added as catalysts (such as acetic acid or inorganic acids) to accelerate the dehydration and condensation reaction.

- Function: The molecular sieve adsorbs the water generated by the reaction, promotes the reaction to proceed in the positive direction, and improves the end-capping efficiency.

The applications of molecular sieves in polyurea coatings mainly include:

- Drying and dewatering: 3A or 4A molecular sieves are used to adsorb moisture in raw materials or the environment, avoid the reaction of isocyanates with water to produce bubbles, and improve the compactness of the coating.

- Catalytic Aid: Acts as a catalyst or adsorbent in a specific reaction to optimize the synthesis process.

The specific formula needs to adjust the type of molecular sieve, such as 3A, 4A, 5A or modified molecular sieve and dosage, according to the performance requirements and application scenarios of the coating.
